Main Inn ~ Bertyl's Lobby Bar
The hub of the resort, the Main Inn provides spacious rooms, suites and connecting rooms, all with gas fireplaces. Your meals are served in the Heritage Dining Room with its large fireplace, patio and terrace areas; the dance floor and private Dining Room are available for special occasions. This inn is also home to the Front Desk, offices and gift shop. And, catch some sports and enjoy the hospitality at Bertyl's Lobby Bar. The Main Inn 420 Meeting and Hospitality room is located on the second floor.
Hearthside Inn
All rooms and suites in this beautiful two-and-a-half storey inn have cozy wood-burning fireplaces and balconies with a lake view. From the bayside rooms you can also watch the fun at the marina in the summer and large skating rink in the winter. From the pool side, enjoy the action on the pool deck in the summer and the splendour of Lake Couchiching in the winter. Activity rooms and the winter-season Playvillage are also located here. Huronia and Simcoe meeting rooms and Mara Boardroom are located on the lower level, all with large windows.
Fireside Inn
This lovely two-storey inn offers a variety of one-room accommodations, suites and connecting rooms. Styles include lake and land view; wheelchair accessible rooms are available on the ground level. Each unit has a balcony and sitting area with a wood-burning fireplace. Fireside 110/108 Meeting and Hospitality room is located on the main floor with a lovely lake view.
Bayshore Cottages
From the Bayshore Cottages, enjoy a park-like setting just feet from the Lakeshore, sun decks with a chaise lounge and scenic view overlooking the bay and across the lake to the town of Orillia. Each semi-detached unit has a bedroom plus a bed-sitting room with a cozy wood burning fireplace. These two room cottages are perfect for families and have parking at the cottage.
Fernwood Inn
A charming inn right on the shore boasts six whirlpool tub rooms - all with views of Lake Couchiching, Heron Island and Gamet Island. Revel in the luxury of a beautiful whirlpool tub placed to enjoy the view and the cozy fireplace at the same time. There are three units on each of two floors. These rooms are great for couples and smaller families.
Twin Fern Cottages
These beautifully appointed twin cottages offer sundecks and lake views. The ground floor features a large living room that can also provide a gathering area when a group of friends or family are vacationing together. Enjoy the comfort of two bedrooms on the second floor and the convenience of one-and-a-half bathrooms.
Edgewater Cottages
These quaint, cozy cottages are nestled along the water's edge. Sliding glass doors and sun decks allow panoramic views of Lake Couchiching and it's islands.
Sweet Fern
This spacious, beautifully appointed lakeside cottage with deck is beside the beach and only steps from the pool deck. The large living room and adjacent alcove with games table on the first floor provide an ideal location for gathering when a group of friends or families are vacationing together. Two bedrooms on the second floor and one-and-a-half bathrooms provide the comforts of home.
Recreation Centre
This centrally located facility houses a sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and family-friendly indoor pool on the ground floor. Upstairs, you'll find The Spa at Fern and the fitness room.
Playvillage & Nursery
Our Playvillage has it all for children! This two-storey play area offers hanging bags, sliding tunnel, ball house, clatter bridge, crawl space, chill zone/splash pad, sandbox, with diggers, a two bed trampoline pavilion, the jelly Bean Theatre, the Fern 500 with motorized jeeps, a play area with swings, loop challenges, log roll, floating balance beam, crawl tunnel and floating stones. The activity program includes crafts, games, horsedrawn hayrides, pony rides and the Playvillage favourite: the Honey Bee Express tractor ride!
Mary Lou's
Mary Lou's has a long-standing tradition of hosting entertainment for generations of Fern Guests. It also houses a snack bar and bar, internet café, Retro Arcade Games, billiards, foosball, pingpong, shuffleboard and a DJ booth.
Five Hole Golf Course
Our Fabulous Family-Friendly Fern Five (the smallest golf course in Ontario) is a par 3, 5-hole course. Get your golf fix, stress free on our lakeside course. Fern's comfortable atmosphere for golf is built on no tee times, easy access, and short commitment time. Equipment is available from the Sports Cottage or the Front Desk.
Tennis Courts
Our three hard-surface courts are floodlit and our tennis program offers many opportunities for the entire family to enjoy! Fern's tennis pro organizes family tournaments for guests throughout the week. Group, private or semi-private lessons are available at reasonable rates to introduce you to the game or develop your skills.
Tennis Gazebo
This little oasis for relaxation is conveniently located, surrounded by the activity courts for tennis, basketball, bocce, large chess and checkers and shuffleboard.
Gwendolyn Park
This expansive park and playground is home to a baseball diamond, playing field, trampoline pavilion, mini-golf, 4-way beach volleyball, glide ride, cargo climbing nets and - Fern's only hill!
Pool Deck ~ Pavillion ~ Terrace Bar
A great spot to relax by the water either in the sun or shade. Enjoy two large outdoor heated pools (one with a slide and one with a diving board), a grand pool deck with two Jacuzzis and sauna. The kiddies will love the sand beach and wading pool. The indoor pool is open during inclement weather and the evenings and is located in the recreation centre. Enjoy the indoor pool area with a Jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam room.
Marina Dock
Fern guests will enjoy free use of our one and two person kayaks, sailboats, pedalcraft and canoes. Must be 12 years old or accompanied by an adult. Rent a small 9.9hp motorized boat for $25 per hour (must have a valid Safe Boater's License). Enjoy the sunset on our Couchiching Cooler Cruise that departs each evening, except Sunday's, on our 14 passenger Admiral deck boat. You can also enjoy daily fishing cruises or book a private cruise.
Extreme Area
Test your strength, stamina and courage! Try our climbing wall, ropes course, team balance teeter totter, vertical playground, lunge thrust, switch back and log driver's waltz (rolling logs).
Ski Dock
Perfect for anyone, beginner to expert. The Fern Resort Ski School guarantees that they will get you waterskiing. Experience wakeboarding, kneeboarding, barefoot or waterski jump. If that is not your speed, you can bring the entire family or group of friends on our six person water weenie.
Activity Court
Enjoy ball hockey, hopscotch, skipping, small climbing structures, Pickleball and fun basketball for all ages.
Amphitheatre
Located on a point, the amphitheatre is home to children's afternoon entertainment, including animal shows!
Bergwen's Theatre
Bergwen's Theatre has a long-standing tradition of hosting entertainment events for generations of Fern guests. With its three-tier construction and extraordinary sound system it is as amazing as the great headliners that perform there. Bergwen's is also perfect for hosting conferences and large meetings and can accommodate up to 325 people.
Sports Cottage
Just sign up for equipment at the Sports Cottage from 9:00am to 5:30pm (closed for lunch). There is no charge for golf clubs, tennis racquets, sports balls, bikes or pedal carts. Badminton racquets are available at the office; there is a charge for damage and for equipment not returned. Non-returned balls are $3 per ball.
